Improving Accessibility at Catoctin Medical Center

A recently completed ADA-compliant entrance ramp at Catoctin Medical Center is improving accessibility for patients and community members in the Catoctin and Thurmont communities.

Built in 1977 with land and funding donated by members of the Catoctin community, the medical center has served area residents for nearly 50 years. Because the facility was constructed before the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), its existing entrance ramp did not meet current accessibility standards.

In 2022, Catoctin Medical Center approached the Ausherman Family Foundation for assistance with replacing the existing ramp and creating a safer, more accessible entrance to the facility.

Working alongside Catoctin Medical Center and drawing on the expertise of Ausherman Properties, the Foundation supported the project from planning through completion, including design, permitting, contractor selection, and construction oversight.

Today, a new ADA-compliant ramp and railing provide improved access to the medical center’s front entrance and help ensure that patients of all abilities can more easily access the care and services that keep them and their families healthy.

The Ausherman Family Foundation is proud to have worked alongside Catoctin Medical Center to bring this important project to fruition. We are pleased to celebrate the completion and Catoctin Medical Center’s continued commitment to serving the community.
