Feeding Frederick Launches in Frederick County

Feeding Frederick, a resource and awareness campaign committed to combating food insecurity throughout Frederick County, officially launched this week. The resource aims to bring awareness to free food resources offered throughout the county by a network of nonprofits and government providers.

Made possible through a collaborative partnership with Frederick County Government, the Community Foundation of Frederick County, the Ausherman Family Foundation, and agencies and individuals providing free food resources throughout our community, Feeding Frederick unites the efforts of various providers by amplifying their message and shining a light on their free food services in a single, comprehensive resource: an interactive map that shows where, when, and how residents can get free food without any obligations.

It is estimated that nearly 1 in 4 Marylanders are facing food insecurity, many of which are children and the elderly. And, as the effects of COVID-19 continue to negatively impact health conditions, jobs, incomes, and much more, Frederick County residents are experiencing a rising need for free food resources. Frederick County has no shortage of passionate volunteers and committed service providers, who are already finding creative ways to provide access to food–Feeding Frederick simply uses a communication campaign to help people find the services they need closest to them.
