Centro Hispano de Frederick marked a major milestone at the end of June with the ribbon cutting and grand opening of its newly expanded facility, bringing together elected officials, community leaders, partners, and supporters to celebrate the growth of one of Frederick County’s most important community organizations. The expansion was made possible through a strategic partnership with the Ausherman Family Foundation, whose investments include several grants supporting both the capital expansion and the organization’s long-term growth.

Serving a concentrated population of immigrant and Spanish-speaking residents, Centro Hispano has become a vital hub for families seeking housing assistance, workforce development services, health resources, educational opportunities, and other critical supports. As community demand continued to grow, the organization identified the need for additional space to better serve residents and create a more welcoming, efficient environment for programs and services.

After a feasibility study confirmed that expanding within its current location at Willowtree Plaza was the best path forward, Ausherman and Centro worked with community partners to secure an additional 1,446 square feet of space. Renovations began in late 2025, occupancy approval was received in March 2026, and the move into the new expansion space was completed this spring. The project also included renovations to Centro’s existing offices, creating a refreshed, more functional facility totaling nearly 5,500 square feet.

With the expansion complete, Centro Hispano now has the physical space needed to accommodate continued program growth and serve more residents in a welcoming, functional environment. This support runs parallel to the Foundation’s Multi-Year Grant that is focused on strengthening the staffing and operations of the organization.
