Overview: A Cooperative Vision
In the current economic climate there is a critical need to develop creative partnerships in order to best serve our community and minimize negative impacts that could result from increased unemployment and decreased funding opportunities for nonprofits. Just as the foundation strongly encourages nonprofit cooperation, we too are actively seeking partnerships with other grantmaking institutions in order to improve the Frederick County area.
Foundations around the country have come to the same conclusion-there is a need to work together to continue our community development process. One outstanding example was recently reported in The Chronicle of Philanthropy (view article). Several large foundations in Detroit are making joint grants to strengthen or consolidate nonprofits in a community that has been hit hard by the struggling automotive industry.
Staff members or Trustees of grantmaking institutions (or philanthropically minded individuals) are encouraged to meet with the Trustees of the Ausherman Family Foundation to discuss potential partnerships. Please contact us.
