The Trustees of the Ausherman Family Foundation announced grants and major projects totaled almost $2.9 million in 2017.  Of this amount, over $1 million was issued in grant funding and almost $1.8 million in major projects.

A total of 129 grant applications were received and reviewed by the Ausherman Family Foundation Trustees, of which 102 grants were awarded to 73 different nonprofit organizations. Matching grants accounted for 12% of all grants, potentially leveraging a total of $185,910 in giving from the Frederick community. 

Ausherman Family Foundation Trustees believe in investing in their local Frederick community. Grant programs are place-based, benefiting nonprofit organizations located in Frederick County, Maryland or serving Frederick County residents.  Ausherman Family Foundation has partnered with numerous nonprofits in Frederick County in the areas of: Children, Youth & Families; Health & Human Services; Arts & Culture; and Public/Society Benefit.  A few of these organizations include: United Way of Frederick County, Interfaith Housing Alliance, Mission of Mercy, Frederick Arts Council, and Color On The Creek.

Ausherman Family Foundation grant programs include Capacity Building, General, Focus, and Challenge Matching Grants.  The 2018 Capacity Building Grant Cycle 2 will open June 1, 2018 and General Grants are open year-round.  Capacity Building Grants support opportunities for nonprofits to build infrastructure and assistance necessary to enhance organizational capacity and address development and effectiveness issues.  General Grants are awarded to cover program, project, and operating costs. Grants may be awarded with or without a challenge matching funds component. The goal of Matching Grants is to lead others to give. 

Ausherman Family Foundation Major Projects in 2017 included New Spire Arts Spaces and Stages, Downtown Frederick’s Square Corner, local Public Art and Frederick City Street Maintenance.
